Inlays & Onlays
The comprehensive range of restoration treatments we offer here at White Peak Dental includes inlays and onlays.
Inlays and onlays perform a similar function to simple fillings. Used to help repair a tooth that has been damaged as a result of decay or injury, inlays and onlays are often used in cases where a simple filling won’t suffice.
In the case of inlays, this is usually because the surface area being treated is much larger, as with the teeth at the back of the mouth which are used for chewing. Onlays are used when we are treating the cusp of the tooth – that is, the raised part of the tooth that is clearly visible.
Having an inlay or onlay placed is similar in practice to receiving a filling, although it usually occurs over more than one appointment. This is because these restorations must be made at a dental laboratory before being professionally applied here at the practice.
