Gum Plastic Surgery

At White Peak, our highly regarded, compassionate dental professionals can treat receding gums and other issues with gum plastic surgery.

Gum plastic surgery – or periodontal plastic surgery as it is also often known – can be used to treat and address recessive gums.

At SnapeHill Dental Studio and Implant Centre, we believe receding gums should be treated wherever possible. This is because they not only cause aesthetic issues, and can lead to a lack of confidence in a patient’s smile, but because they can cause painful sensitivity issues too.

Receding gums expose the root of the tooth, and can cause great pain and difficulty for the patient, especially when consuming hot or cold drinks or eating certain foods. Luckily, we can address and treat this with gum plastic surgery using soft tissue grafts.

During a soft tissue graft, we will take small pieces of tissue from other areas of the mouth, such as the palate, and use it to replace tissue in the area where gum recession is present. This will cover the exposed root, eliminating the extra sensitivity, and help stop further bone loss and gum recession. It will also leave the smile looking more even and aesthetically pleasing, helping to boost the patient’s confidence.
